Anorexia is a kind of disease in which children have no appetite or even an aversion to food for a long time. It is a common disease among infants between 1 to 6 years old. 

 

Cause:

In TCM, the causes of anorexia are an irregular diet, improper feeding and dietary bias for a long time, by which the normal functions of transformation and transportation will be affected. 

Resultantly, there will be symptoms such as loss of appetite, emaciation and influenced growth and development.

 

Syndrome differentiation:

• Failure of splenic transportation 

It is characterized as a lusterless complexion, no appetite, or tasteless, 

• Deficiency of stomach yin: It is characterized by dry mouth, drinking favours, red tongue, and dry stool.

• Oi-deficiency of spleen and stomach: It is characterized as spiritless, reluctant to speak, sallow complexion
